RETURNING TEAM REGISTRATION
Coaches will be notified by email and by phone when registration packages will be available for pickup. Returning teams must have their registration packets turned in to the Registrar no later than July 15th to ensure that player cards are available for late summer tournament play. There is a $35.00 cancellation fee once the player has been put into the AYSA system and no refund after the start of games.
NOTE: Fort Lowell Soccer Club, Inc., has a superior youth soccer program. We are committed to providing good value for your fees. Your fees cover: uniform (jersey, practice/alternate t-shirt, shorts and socks), insurance, state and county registration, referee fees, fields and field maintenance, and equipment (balls, ballbags, and pennies provided to coaches for use by players). U6 and U8 registration includes participation in Fort Lowell SC's "JUNIOR SOCCER OLYMPICS," held every November. The season for players on U8 and older teams includes a first half (approximately mid-October through mid-December) and a second half (approximately mid-January through mid-March, for non-high school players). There are no hidden club expenses, such as "team sponsorship fees," which, in other clubs, may run from $150 to $300 per team and add $10-$20 (or more) to each player's cost of registration. Additionally, our club administrators work strictly on a voluntary basis. We feel strongly that members of our club should pay only what is necessary to allow for the functional operation of their respective teams. Please note, however, that our professional Gunners coaches do charge a monthly fee for their top-quality coaching.
IMPORTANT POINTS
- You may request that your child be placed on the same team as his/her friends by designating, in the box on the registration form marked "Coach," that you request he be placed with those players, indicating their names. The registrar will make every reasonable effort to honor your request.
- If you register late, or if the team your child's friends play on already has the maximum number of players permitted under league and state rules, we will be unable to honor your request.
- Practice schedules are not determined until some weeks after registration has concluded. We will be unable to tell you at registration on what days your child's team will practice.
- Your child will not be assigned to a team until registration has concluded.
- Please let us know if you have specific needs or preferences. While we can neither promise nor guarantee that you will be accommodated, we will make every reasonable effort to honor your request.
- Age groups U6 through (and including) U10 are non-competitive.
- Parents should know that by registering their young player(s) with the Fort Lowell Soccer Club, they are acknowledging that membership carries an obligation to volunteer, as assigned, at the Fort Lowell Shootout. Operating an event like the Fort Lowell Shootout requires over 600 volunteers . . . if we are to continue to build upon our successes, everyone must participate.
Did you know most youth soccer coaches, particularly of teams in younger age groups, are volunteers recruited from among the parents of players? The vast majority of them had no experience at all when they started, and learned as they went along. In addition to developing a love of the sport, they discovered a fun and enjoyable way to participate in the lives of their children. Believe it or not, some got so hooked that, even though their kids are grown, they volunteer to coach teams of young players just because they enjoy it! They are, however, not in such plentiful supply that you can assume you won't be contacted about volunteering as a coach or to help your child's coach. Here are 2 important things for you to consider:
- Although some parents may initially be reluctant to participate as coaches because they feel they don't know enough about the sport of soccer, it is generally true that they know more than their 6, 7, or 8-year-old child and his or her friends.
- Although some parents may be reluctant to participate as coaches because they feel they lack coaching experience, invariably they discover that having the support of our Board of Directors, who are committed to ensuring that FLSC coaches have rewarding and enjoyable experiences, alleviates any initial concerns they may have had.
When the call comes, please consider supporting your child's development in this very special way. See you on the pitch!
